Shropshire is a wonderful place to visit, with plenty to do and see. Some of the key attractions that guests won't want to miss out on when visiting include the Severn Valley Railway, a full-sized steam hauled passenger train running between Kidderminster in Worcestershire and Bridgnorth, here in Shropshire.

It is very popular with visitors and enthusiasts alike, full of interest, especially the crossing over the River Severn on the impressive 200ft single span Victorian bridge. Other attractions popular with Shropshire's visitors are the RAF Museum at Costford, and the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site.

The site of the famous Iron Bridge is a wonderful place to visit; often referred to as the birthplace of industry, as it was here that the technique of manufacturing iron from the use of coke was perfected; this enabled, for the very first time, the mass production of high quality iron.

The bridge was in fact the first bridge in the world to be constructed from iron, making it an internationally recognised symbol of the Industrial Revolution. Shropshire is also a county scattered with great Medieval Castles and Ancient Churches, as well as some of the most important Roman remains in Britain, the Vironconium Roman City, Wroxeter.

There are some pretty famous towns too, with Shrewsbury, Shropshire's county town, being the birthplace of Charles Darwin. Much Wenlock is a quintessentially English town, and was the home of William Penny Brookes, the founding father of the Modern Olympic Games.

Local accommodation choices are ample, ranging from luxury suites in ancient castles, to cosy country cottages. Our website, Shropshire Bed and Breakfast, features some of the very best.
